The GAN Square-1 is GAN’s first Square-1, and it carries the same flagship hardware the brand builds into its top 3x3s. Instead of springs it runs on a MagLev tension system, so the slice moves lightly and quietly with no break-in needed. Inside sit 36 magnets — 32 between the pieces and 4 in the core — which give the layers a firm 30° snap and land every slash cleanly at 180°, so shapes line up and lockups stay rare even at speed.

Setup is fully numbered: slide off the middle-layer cap and the GES dial offers 6 tension levels and 6 center-travel levels (36 settings), set symmetrically in a single twist with no screwdriver. A new dual-foot structure with slide-lock joints guards against pops and, by GAN’s figures, cuts friction by about 30%. The stickerless Black Top shell is UV coated for a scratch-resistant, consistent grip, and a honeycomb texture with built-in channels keeps the lube evenly spread.
